Seamless change from Centova to AzuraCast?

Hi -

Has anyone changed form Centova to Azura? I'm willing to consider making the shift. BUT, Shoutca.st hasn't provided an easy FAQ to help me with the transition from one to the other. Are the mount points the same? Will TuneIn still work? What do I need to upload to the Azuracast server to make sure everything "just works" in the transition.

Has anybody created a migration document?

Hi both @batsonjay @stereobeaver

AzuraCast is a new product for us, so we haven't put together our documentation for it properly yet, but this is an excellent suggestion and I'm going to get on making this available for customers as soon as possible. Thank you for making this suggestion, it's a great idea.

Mount points in AzuraCast are managed in a slightly different way but work very similarly, TuneIn will still work with an Azura-based stream providing you have a pre-existing TuneIn listing of course. You'd have to upload your media to AzuraCast but it's a very simple process!

Good comments, Ethan. Not yet quite an FAQ or migration guide, but it signals that a transition can be made - once we're told how to. ;-)

Documentation is definitely required, this will be written as a matter of urgency. Perhaps an idea for another forum category in the interim?!

Sure! Maybe those who have already done the migration can come share what they had to go thru, and things to watch out for.

Yup - and I see you created it! Cool! Looking forward to seeing a migration / planning document.

Hope we won't need to change our ip and port numbers on all the websites we submitted to because that would be a weeks worth of work alone

Unfortunately as AzuraCast is hosted on an entirely different server & infrastructure, a port & IP change would be unavoidable. That being said, we're not forcing any form of closure on Centova based services and therefore there's no need to change unless you really want to!

I changed over to AzuraCast simply because I could not get accurate reports from Centova for my PPL submissions. You do have to set things up new, but have found it very a reliable connection. Sometimes during a busy show, the live listener map cannot cope, but you can still see the numbers of listeners on the profile page, just not where they are tuning in from. Because the price is so reasonable I have also kept the Centova account as a back up. Whilst I don't need things like the Auto DJ and live broadcast ability, for anyone who does, the control panel is excellent. If your a small webcaster and do not need unlimited listener ability, I would very much recommend you change to AzuraCast
